HOW WE STARTED

In the beginning...late in the fall of 2010, the Fundraising Team of the newly formed Mashpee Congregational Church was brainstorming ways to increase membership and, of course, revenue.  We planned some traditional events like a few concerts in 2011, selling Christmas wreaths in early December and holding a boutique and plant sale in the spring, but we knew that wouldn't be enough to meet our goals.

Our "Aha!" moment came when a church member introduced us to one of his business customers, a manufacturer of frozen chicken pies, who has been making his USDA approved chicken pies for more than 20 years and selling them successfully through various distributors in New England -- but nowhere
on Cape Cod!

On March 24, 2011 we held a pie tasting party to see how our members felt about these newly discovered chicken pies.  Thanks to an astounding coming-together of team members' professional skills and resources, along with the support of church leadership and the members as a whole, we quickly got all the right permits together, bought a freezer and starter inventory and formed a company we call Church Pies of Cape Cod.  We are now THE distributor of these delicious chicken pies on the Cape!

While we do sell our pies "lemonade-stand" style to our own members at our retail prices, our primary purpose is to sell pies wholesale to grocery stores and other non-profit organizations interested in creating a fundraiser of their own.  We are passionate about our church and we are passionate about our pies!  All net profits from the sale of our chicken pies will help our church grow, prosper and continue to serve the community.  A godsend for one and all!
